Oh! That I may be
As magnificent as a tree!
For a tree stands up tall and straight,
Reahing up for Heaven's gate.
His foundation grows strong and deep,
That his standards, he may keep.
How his strength I love to savor,
If in the wind he does not waiver!
But an ounce of pride he will not show,
As he sheds his leaves and bears the snow.
He endures the freezing, wintery pain,
Looking forward to Spring's warm rain.
He lets the blizzards storm and strong winds blow,
Knowing he will again be allowed to grow.
How his faith I love to cherish,
If in the winter he does not perish!
Oh! That I may be
As magnificent as a tree!
For a tree grows up tall and straight,
Reaching up for Heaven's gate.
